There are beautiful views east to Ponui Island and the Coromandel on this lovely coastal walk at the “bottom end” of the island. Wonderful Pohutakawa trees dot the coast, and you can visit Pearl Bay, which the handful of residents can only access by boat or by foot.
Location
This walk begins at Orapiu wharf at the far eastern end of Waiheke Island. A car is necessary to get there. Allow 40 minutes to drive from Oneroa to Orapiu, 1.5 hours for this walk, and 40 minutes to return to the Western end of the island.
Track Summary
This out-and-back walk around the stunning coastline at the far end of Waiheke, is mostly on dirt tracks and along beaches, with moderate inclines.
Dogs allowed off lead, under control.
